Dick And Fanny presents pEt sHOp bEARs
Jubilee Sunday 3 June
Dalston Superstore
9pm-4am, £5
This Jubilee Sunday Dick and Fanny will see its second special event to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. Gagging! DAF hosts this one-off event for its usual crowd of homosexuals of all persuasions at the Dalston Superstore taking over both floors on Jubilee Sunday 3 June 2012.
The impressive line-up includes our special guests the pEt sHOp bEARs (Berlin), SUDHA (Faithless), RUFUS&Bambi (Abattoir), PEP SANCHEZ, and DICK AND FANNY DJs playing house in the basement and a fun mix of house, italo, disco and pop tunes in the upstairs bar for lesbians, gays, trannies and everyone else who fancies it. Queens, get your crown on!
Justin Case & Open Mike, aka the PET SHOP BEARS, throw the very popular party of the same name for the Berlin “hirsute homosexual” dixit Alexis Petridis at Bear’Ghain CUNTINE!
We are so pleased to see SUDHA take to the decks again after a truly amazing set at Dick And Fanny Fringe Party. Sudha has enjoyed global success as the percussionist for Faithless and has worked with a huge variety of artists including Talvin Singh, Kylie and The Spice Girls as well as performing at legendary clubs including Cream and The Hacienda. Since the end of Faithless, Sudha has been hitting the decks and will be DJing internationally over the summer.
Self-registered free spirit and accidental collector of travel stamps, Elena Colombi - aka RUFUS&Bambi - invaded the London scene some years ago armed with nothing but a love of music and a toothbrush. In that time she’s whisked up something of a storm, scoring a residency at “BREED” and setting up her own shindig “Abattoir”. And as if her unstoppable DJing flightpath needed any more help, the future promises live sets with a buddy and a series of exclusive afterparties. Y’know, ‘cos her diary isn’t quite packed enough.

DICK AND FANNY, the club night for homosexuals of all persuasions returns for its April slot on Saturday April 14th 2012 to CAMP Basement. This time we have teamed up with our friends from Fringe! Gay Film Fest to host their official party on the festival’s Saturday night. So after you’ve enjoyed a day of films and events you can swing your dancing shoes at DAF to our delectable line up of DJs: LAUREN FLAX (CREEP, NYC), JOSH SPARBER (NYC), BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT (DJ SET) and SUDHA (FAITHLESS). As usual they’ll be supplying you with a tasty mix of classic house and techno, hi-NRG, disco and a healthy helping of 90s dance hits. With live visuals supplied on the night by Luke Warda.
£7, £6 b4 10pm, £5 for ticketholders of late night Saturday night Fringe! screenings at Rio Dalston and Hackney Picturehouse
For more info on Fringe! visit their website and get your hands on some tickets.
After her first DAF gig in April 2010 New York resident LAUREN FLAX finally returns to grace our decks again. Lauren has been busy in the last two years from producing her own singles as well as working on her new project CREEP with co-conspirator Lauren Dillard. The pair released their debut single DAYS with Romy XX on vocals and has worked on their debut album to be released later this year. Lauren has also collaborated with a slew of international talent from Fischerspooner to Sia and has remixed bands including Le Tigre, MEN, Telephate and Heartsrevolution.
Fellow New Yorker JOSH SPARBER has been a good friend of ours for years and is finally making his debut at Dick and Fanny. Josh is a boy about town in his native New York where he runs weekly party Good Times at Eastern Bloc in the East Village and DJs the city’s nightspots from Chelsea to Brooklyn including Vandam, Santo’s Party House and Mr Black as well as national and international guest slots from San Francisco to Philadelphia and London to Stockholm.
Another friend and local favourite BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT (aka Rod Thomas) also returns for another set at Dick and Fanny after his first stunt with us at last year’s Pool Disco at Shoreditch House. Rod is a singer, writer, producer and DJ that NME have called ‘the boy Robyn in all but name’. His 2010 debut single Love Part II was one of our favourite electropop moments of the day and his debut album is set to be released in June this year. In his DJ sets Rod plays homage to his obsession with 90s dance music that may or may not include a bit of Ace of Base, a passion he regularly indulges at his club night Another Night.
SUDHA has enjoyed global success as the percussionist for Faithless and has worked with a huge variety of artists including Talvin Singh, Kylie and The Spice Girls as well as performing at legendary clubs including Cream and The Hacienda.
